Mike Mullen Becomes First Repeat Feature Winner at Oshkosh Speedzone as he Collects Modified Checkered

Oshkosh, WI, May 18, 2012:  With nearly ideal weather conditions taking place the largest field of the 2012 racing season took to the racing surface as Oshkosh Speedzone Raceway played host to a program presented by Total Power Sales and Oshkosh Lanes.   A total of 133 cars checked into the pit area for the program headed up by a season high 43 Automotive Supply Company Modifieds.

 

Currently Oshkosh Speedzone has had among the largest fields of Modifieds participating in the Midwest leading some to dub the third-mile clay as “Wisconsin’s Modified Action Track”.  There was also a field of 32 Leon’s Frozen Custard IMCA Northern Sport Modifieds which tied the track record for weekly participants set last week.  Between the two classes 75 modifieds were in the pit area.

Nason’s Landscasping Presents Round 1 of Gilley’s Cool 5 Series

Two races are in the books so far for the 900 horsepower open-wheeled machines and Billy Balog appears to have his sights set on another series title.   Balog the four-time and defending series champion has captured both events run so far this year taking victories at both 141 Speedway and Wilmot Raceway.

Kasperek Stays Red Hot at Seymour Super Speedway

Balog Outduels Kertscher for Wilmot Bumper to Bumper IRA Sprint Victory

May 12, 2012; Wilmot, WI -  The intensity of the 2012 Bumper to Bumper IRA Outlaw Sprint season ramped up as fans were treated to some frenzied late race action in the 30 lap A-main.   During the final eight laps of the contest a pair of restarts would showcase a classic duel between four-time and defending IRA Sprint champion Bill Balog and Mike Kertscher who was seeking his first feature win of 2012.

Swapping the lead back in forth in while performing classic cross-over moves, Balog and Kertscher would exchange the lead several times a lap until Balog got the upper hand in the closing laps and pulled away.

Dan Jung Dominates at Jefferson Speedway

Saturday, May 12, 2012; Jefferson, WI –  Dan Jung of Iron Ridge lead flag to flag on Saturday night at Jefferson Speedway to capture the Newville Auto Salvage 50 lap Late Model main event. Jung grabbed the lead on the opening lap and held off all challengers to get his first win of the 2012 season.

Starting alongside Dylan Schuyler, Jung took the early advantage with Schuyler trying to hang with him on the inside. Schuyler dropped back into a battle for second with Ty James on lap two while Bob Kahler watched from fourth. James cleared for the second spot on lap four as he pulled up behind Jung to challenge for the top spot.

Lamoreaux makes comeback win at LaCrosse

May 21, 2012;  West Salem , WI -  He hadn’t raced here weekly since 2007, but Mark Lamoreaux proved he still had it in him to win a feature at La Crosse Fairgrounds Speedway. Lamoreaux held off last season’s champion J. Herbst to

win the Kwik Trip NASCAR Late Model feature race on Saturday night.

Chris Skrede and Bill Niles started side by side on row one and both fought to keep the position. Skrede was able to get around Niles to take the lead, but he didn’t keep it for long.

Rookie Eric “Chummy” Arneson Leads Wire-to-Wire in 141 Mod Go!

May 12, 2012; Francis Creek, WI– Oconto Falls rookie Eric “Chummy” Arneson led every lap and fought off a hard charging Kyle Frederick of Gillett to capture his first career modified feature at 141 Speedway in Francis Creek.

A total of 144 cars checked in to compete.  The field included 30 modifieds, 13 Brian Peterson Grand Nationals, 25 stock cars, 32 Tisler Salvage street stocks, 28 IMCA northern sportmods and 16 sport fours.

Andy Gross Captures Career First Modified Feature Win at The Zone!

Oshkosh, WI, May 12, 2012:  Oshkosh Speedzone Raceway hosted another evening of great racing action as winners in each of the five feature races were decided in the closing laps.  B-104 and Total Power Sales presented the second night of racing for the 2012 season at the third-mile clay oval, and fans witnessed plenty of thrilling racing action on nearly a perfect track.

129 cars checked into the pit area including 41 Automotive Supply Company Modifieds.  Fast becoming known as “Wisconsin’s Modified Action Track”, Oshkosh Speedzone has seen star filled fields in its headline division with champions from several area tracks competing this season.  Even with all the championships represented in the starting lineup of tonight’s feature it would be Andy Gross, a relative newcomer to the class who is running his first full season of Modified racing, reaching victory lane after a smooth late race pass of Will “The Thrill” Sorce in a non-stop feature contest.

Neitzel, Russ Scheffler, Jackson and Ruh(2nd of year) pick up wins at Manitowoc.

Friday, May 11th, Manitowoc, WI. – Greenbush Trading Post made the nights events possible. With carnations to the first 100 Moms in the stands and the Jr Fan Club enjoying festivities, the warm weather a welcome respite after the rain of the week prior. Another smooth, fast track greeted the racers during the feature events making for some fantastic racing.

Heinz Stays Perfect at Luxemburg Speedway

ABC Raceway to Open 48th Season on Saturday Night

May 11, 2012; Ashland, WI — With favorable weather throughout the spring helping matters, the ABC Raceway looks to start its 2012 racing season right on schedule. On Saturday night, in a program presented by Northern State Bank, the venerable red-clay oval located just south of Ashland will host the opening round of its 48th season of action under the direction of the Ashland-Bayfield County Racing Association, one of the longest-continually-running stock car racing organizations in the Midwest.

IRA Sprints to Resume Season at Wilmot Raceway This Saturday Night

May 10, 2012; Wilmot, WI -  The Bumper to Bumper IRA Outlaw Sprint Car Series is looking forward to resuming its season after several weeks off as the series heads to Wilmot Raceway’s 1/3 mile clay oval located at the Kenosha County Fairgrounds. The event held this Saturday Night May 12th is the first of five appearances for the series at the track in 2012.

The 900 horsepower winged  410 sprints should be turning out in solid numbers as Wilmot Raceway’s own 410 Sprints are set to take on the touring stars of the IRA Series.
