Mike Mullen Becomes First Repeat Feature Winner at Oshkosh Speedzone as he Collects Modified Checkered

Oshkosh, WI, May 18, 2012:  With nearly ideal weather conditions taking place the largest field of the 2012 racing season took to the racing surface as Oshkosh Speedzone Raceway played host to a program presented by Total Power Sales and Oshkosh Lanes.   A total of 133 cars checked into the pit area for the program headed up by a season high 43 Automotive Supply Company Modifieds.

 

Currently Oshkosh Speedzone has had among the largest fields of Modifieds participating in the Midwest leading some to dub the third-mile clay as “Wisconsin’s Modified Action Track”.  There was also a field of 32 Leon’s Frozen Custard IMCA Northern Sport Modifieds which tied the track record for weekly participants set last week.  Between the two classes 75 modifieds were in the pit area.

This week the trend will continue as Oshkosh Lane and Automotive Supply Company will be presenting the five division program which should see over 120 competitors take to the track.

Andy Gross Captures Career First Modified Feature Win at The Zone!

Oshkosh, WI, May 12, 2012:  Oshkosh Speedzone Raceway hosted another evening of great racing action as winners in each of the five feature races were decided in the closing laps.  B-104 and Total Power Sales presented the second night of racing for the 2012 season at the third-mile clay oval, and fans witnessed plenty of thrilling racing action on nearly a perfect track.

129 cars checked into the pit area including 41 Automotive Supply Company Modifieds.  Fast becoming known as “Wisconsin’s Modified Action Track”, Oshkosh Speedzone has seen star filled fields in its headline division with champions from several area tracks competing this season.  Even with all the championships represented in the starting lineup of tonight’s feature it would be Andy Gross, a relative newcomer to the class who is running his first full season of Modified racing, reaching victory lane after a smooth late race pass of Will “The Thrill” Sorce in a non-stop feature contest.

Speedzone Roars Back Into Action On B-104/Total Power Sales Night This Friday

Oshkosh, WI, May 9, 2012: After a successful start to the 2012 season last Friday evening, the Oshkosh Speedzone roars to life again this Friday evening, May 11th as the raceway hosts another exciting five division racing program. The event will be presented by two longtime track supporters.

2012 Racing Season Gets Underway at “The Zone” – Mike Mullen Captures Mod Main on WXMM92.9fm Opener

May 4, 2012; Oshkosh, WI -  Just 24 hours prior to the first green flag of the 2012 season.  Oshkosh Speedzone Raceway and the surrounding area received over 5 inches of rain putting opening night in doubt.  But thanks to a skilled track prep crew the season got underway as scheduled with racing starting promptly at 7:00pm.

123 cars checked into the pit area lead by 39 Automotive Supply Company Modifieds.  The Leon’s Frozen Custard IMCA Northern Sport Modifieds had 25 participants as did the Miller Lite Grand Nationals.  17 drivers checked into the pit area in the Total Power Sales Street Stocks and the Lynn’s Service Center Dirt Devils.

The Oshkosh Speedzone will be racing tonight May 4th

May 4, 2012, Oshkosh, WI. - The County Parks department has agreed to allow us to use the main parking lot as our pit area as a one time use.
Drivers and crew must enter the facility off of Hwy 76 (usual pit entrance) and proceed to pit area. Spectators must enter off County Y, main entrance. Pit lane will be used so if you can bring a 4 wheeler or golf cart to haul your tires and such to pit lane that would be help full.

Oshkosh, WI, May 2, 2012:  The wait is over!  Almost!  In just a couple days the 2012 racing season at Oshkosh Speedzone Raceway is set to begin.   On Friday Night, May 4th the chase for the 2012 championships are underway with 5 divisions of racing taking to the third-mile clay oval.  The show, presented by WXMM 92.9FM will feature Automotive Supply Company Modifieds, Miller Lite Grand Nationals, Leon’s Frozen Custard IMCA Northern Sport Modifieds, Total Power Sales Street Stocks and Lynn’s Service Center Dirt Devils.

Oshkosh Speedzone Clarifies The Point System

April 30, 2012, Oshkosh, WI  – Speedzone Points Clarification

Clarification of Speedzone points system will be as follows, Modified points and Sport Modified points will be set back to zero. Grand National, Street Stock and Dirt Devil points will remain with the 5 extra points for getting their driver info sheets in by the cutoff date. The reason for the change, for the last several years we have not been sanctioned IMCA therefore we could do this.

Final Pre-Season Practice Sees Over 50 Drivers Take to the Track at Oskosh Speedzone.

MODIFIEDS GET RACEY IN PRE-SEASON TESTING

April 28, 2012; Oshkosh, WI -  It was a cold and cloudy afternoon, but well over 50 drivers entered the Oshkosh Speedzone Raceway pit area for the last shakedown before the start of the 2012 season.  While many of the area tracks had to cancel their planed evening race programs, rain avoided the Speedzone’s third-mile clay oval and a full four hour testing session was completed as planned.

Once again the Automotive Supply Company Modifieds had the highest turnout with 16 cars taking to the track.  The Leon’s Frozen Custard IMCA Northern Sport Modifieds showed up with 15 drivers testing their machines.  All totaled 53 cars hit the raceway during the afternoon.

54 Drivers Tied for Point Lead at Oshkosh Speedzone Before the Season Begins! Final Pre-Season Practice This Saturday!

Oshkosh, WI, April 24, 2012:  In less than two weeks, the 2012 racing season at Oshkosh Speedzone Raceway will get underway and before the first green flag falls 54 drivers are tied atop the standings.

Drivers who filed their information forms before the deadline of April 22nd were awarded 5 bonus points towards the 2012 championship. The highest number of forms presented occurred in the Modified class where 20 competitors are officially tied for the lead.

Practice Makes Perfect as Oshkosh Speedzone Sees Nearly 60 Drivers Shake Down Their Rides In Anticipation of the Upcoming Season.

Oshkosh, WI, April 21, 2012:  It was an afternoon that has been awaited for nearly six months as racing machines finally took to the track in anticipation of the season ahead at Oshkosh Speedzone Raceway.

In spite of nearly 2.5 inches of rain which fell Thursday night on some recently added clay, track officials whipped the third mile clay oval into shape and the track proved to be very racy for the 56 different drivers which checked into the pit area throughout the day.

Oshkosh Speedzone Prepped and Ready for Practice Days

Oshkosh, WI, April 15, 2012:  It has been a long six months since the roar of racing engines was last heard at the Oshkosh Speedzone Raceway.  But that’s soon to change as a pair of pre-season practice sessions will allow drivers to shake down their machinery in anticipation of the 2012 racing season.

A mild spring had allowed track officials to prepare the grounds and the raceway for the season ahead with many projects running well ahead of schedule.  The track has also been prepared and is basically in “race ready” condition for the season ahead.

Oshkosh Speedzone Lowe’s Home Improvement Car Show A Success

Oshkosh, WI, April 14, 2012:  On a sunny summer-like afternoon fans got a preview of the racing machines which will take to the track at Oshkosh Speedzone Raceway this season as nearly 20 cars turned out dressed in their 2012 season colors.   Held at the Lowe’s Home Improvement Store in Oshkosh the day featured a multi-purpose community event with hundreds of people visiting the displays on hand.  The Oshkosh Speedzone Car show proved to be a major attraction which also included displays to support Habitat for Humanity and attendees also witnessed public service demonstrations and children’s activities.  WXMM 92.9fm Country Radio which is the sponsor of the season opening Oshkosh Speedzone Raceway event on May 4th was also on hand.

Oshkosh, WI, April 9, 2012:  -Fans wanting ahead start of the 2012 racing season are invited to attend the annual Oshkosh Speedzone Car Show this Saturday, April 14th. This year’s event will be held at a new location as Lowe’s Home Improvements teams up with the Speedzone for a special day of activity for the whole family at the Lowe’s Oshkosh location at 1075 North Washburn Street in Oshkosh, WI. Those attending the show that are traveling on Highway 41 to arrive at the location are encouraged to use the 9th Street exit and then travel north on Washburn Street to arrive at Lowe’s.

Points Battle Begins “Before” The First Green Flag at Oshkosh Speedzone Raceway
