Four New Winners In Rice Lake Speedway Racing Action

May 12, 2012; Rice Lake WI – After a one week break due to a rainout, the Rice Lake Speedway was back in action Saturday and four first time winners emerged in racing action, one for the first time ever. Winning their first feature races of the 2012 season at Rice Lake were Jason Gross, Cory Karshbaum, Jay Kesan and Mike Schnider while Shane Halopka became a repeat winner.

Cinco a Stinko at Rice Lake Speedway

May 5, 2012; Rice Lake WI – While many were celebrating Cinco  de Mayo on Saturday, at the Rice Lake Speedway it was more like a “stinko” as  the rains moved in by mid afternoon and everything started to “sinko” out of  sight underwater. The bottom line was, the speedway suffered its second rain out  of the young season.

Rice Lake Speedway Announces New Hall of Fame Members

May 1, 2012; Rice Lake WI – In 2011 the Rice Lake Speedway started a Hall of Fame and inducted their first group of members.   The Hall of Fame committee recently met again and the second group of inductees were elected.

Joining the illustrious group in 2012 will be former drivers Dave Adams, Don Drew, Dave Palmquist, Ben Ryba and Jack Shimon. Added also in the Friend of the Speedway category will be Louie Foss.  

Hillman First Repeat Winner at Rice Lake Speedway

April 28, 2012; Rice Lake WI – While virtually every other race track in the region canceled for one reason or another Saturday, the Rice Lake Speedway hung tough and got in their second regular Saturday night of racing in the 2012 season. While a decent crowd of hardy fans on hand and a respectable number of racers in the pits, Ben Hillman continued to show that he will be a force to be reckoned with all season as he won his second straight Super Stock feature win at Rice Lake while also winning his second feature of the weekend including a Friday night win at Red Cedar.

Crapser and Richards Top Rice Lake Special

April 26, 2012;  Rice Lake WI – As a part of the USMTS special Thursday night at the Rice Lake Speedway, the WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds and Pure Stocks participated in the racing program and winning their first feature events of the year at Rice Lake were both Cory Crapser and George Richards. In the USMTS, Chris Brown from Spring Texas topped a field of fifty six Modifieds for a $4,000 top prize.
 
Ryan Viltz and Crapser led a twenty car field to Randy Davis’ green flag to commence the Midwest Modified main event, but before a lap could be completed a tangle occurred in turn four and the yellow flag flew. Crapser got the jump on the restart over Viltz with Tito Viltz quickly moving into third ahead of Jake Stai.

Brown notches fifth career USMTS win on the road at Rice Lake

April 26, 2012; Rice Lake, WI. – As of Thursday afternoon, Chris Brown had four career USMTS victories to his credit – all of them coming at dirt ovals within a one-hour drive from his home in Spring, Texas.

After the checkered flag fell later in the evening, Brown had his fifth career win with a triumph in the USMTS National Championship Series event at the Rice Lake Speedway in Rice Lake, Wis. – nearly 1,300 miles north of his front porch.

 

Rice Lake Speedway rained out; USMTS on Tap

Rice Lake WI, April 21, 2012 – A slow moving cold front crawled into northwestern Wisconsin on Saturday afternoon, and the timing was such that light rain, mist and cold temperatures along with wind hit the Rice Lake area at mid afternoon and refused to move out of the area, thus canceling the racing program Saturday night at the Rice Lake Speedway.

National Championship Series Comes to Rice Lake Speedway

April 16, 2012; Rice Lake WI – The United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) Championship Series will be coming to the Rice Lake Speedway on Thursday, April 26th . This series, in its initial year, is the most lucrative traveling series for the USMTS in their history. The series has scheduled twenty night races throughout the country, with each driver allowed to use their best twenty finishes to determine the National Champion.

Sixtieth Season Begins with Opener at Rice Lake Speedway

Rice Lake WI, April 14, 2012 – The historic sixtieth consecutive season of dirt track racing at the Rice Lake Speedway began in record breaking fashion Saturday night. With one of the largest crowds in recent years on hand for the opener, the track broke another record with its earliest opening night of racing in the sixty years of its operation.
 
One hundred and two cars from three states signed in for the opening race program, and when the final checkered flag had been waved, opening night winners included Kevin Adams, Ben Hillman, Tito Viltz, Eric Olson and Joel Hinrichs.

Rice Lake Speedway Celebrates Sixtieth Anniversary Opener

April 3, 2012; Rice Lake, WI. – Sixty consecutive years of any continuing activity is a long time, but when it comes to the operation of a dirt auto racing track, that length of time is unprecedented in northwestern Wisconsin.
 
Nevertheless, the Rice Lake Speedway will be celebrating sixty years of continuing dirt track racing when they open the gates for the first race of the 2012 racing season on Saturday night, April 14th .

Rice Lake Speedway Racers Celebrate

Rice Lake WI, February 25, 2012 – A crowd of over two hundred and fifty people jammed the Rice Lake Elks Lodge on Saturday night as the Rice Lake Speedway celebrated the conclusion of the 2011 racing season and looked ahead to 2012. The speedway celebrated its second full year under the ownership of Adams-Hansen Inc. in style with the biggest crowd for a banquet in recent memory.
 
After the meal, it was time for the awards ceremony. However, first Dave Adams gave his second annual “State of the Speedway” address in which he thanked all the drivers, car owners, employees and, most of all, the fans for their support of the speedway which has allowed the track to grow even under the challenging economic conditions of the past two years.

Rice Lake Speedway Sets Awards Banquet

February 9, 2012 – Rice Lake WI – Adams-Hansen Inc, the owners of the Rice Lake Speedway, invite all racer drivers, crews, fans, friends and speedway employees to the 2011 awards banquet for the speedway, to be held on Saturday night, February 25th .

Halopka and Adams Top Rice Lake Speedway Finale

Rice Lake WI, Sept. 4, 2011   – Despite two rain delays during the course of the afternoon and evening, the Rice Lake Speedway was able to complete the final show of their first ever triple header in the fifty nine year history of the speedway Sunday night. Shane Halopka and Kevin Adams also became the first multiple winners of the weekend as both drivers won their second feature race of the three day series conducted over the holiday weekend. Other winners as the track completed the final show on their schedule for 2011 were Andy Grymala, Adam Soltis and Jay Folz.

Three Close Finishes Highlight Sunday Rice Lake Speedway Show

Rice Lake WI, Sept. 3, 2011 – Round two of the Rice Lake Speedway tripleheader was held Saturday night, and despite a little batch of rain that came through near start time, and caused the show to be delayed about an hour, racing went on as scheduled. The car count increased as one hundred thirty five drivers signed in Saturday, with the highlight of the racing being three feature races that were decided by a car length or less. Winning very tight battles were Jimmy Randall, Ryan Viltz and Cory Tammen while George Richards and Paul Brust also found victory lane.
